(Cochran)

Information:
Hank Cochran wrote Make the World Go Away in 1963. The big hits that year were by Ray Price (Columbia 42827), whose version reached #2 on the country chart, and Timi Yuro (Liberty 55587) who peaked at # 24 on the Hot 100 chart and #5 on the Easy-Listening chart. Two years later, Eddy Arnold took Make the World Go Away (RCA 47-8679) to the top spot on both the country and Easy-Listening charts, and to #6 on the Hot 100 chart. Donny and Marie Osmond also had a moderate hit with the song in 1975 on the MGM Records (MGM 14807).

Elvis recorded Make the World Go Away at RCA’s Nashville studios on June 7, 1970. An alternate mix appeared on the RCA Records club release, Country Memories.

Lyrics:

1. Make the world go away, get it off, get it off my shoulder
Say the things you used to say and make the world, make it go away

Do you remember when you loved me before the world took you away
Well if you do, then forgive me and make the world, make it go away

1. (repeat)

Now I’m sorry if I hurt you, let me make it up to you day by day
And if you will, please forgive me and make the world, make it go away

1. 1. (repeat)
