Little Cabin on the Hill

download

(Monroe / Flatt)

Information:
Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt wrote Little Cabin on the Hill in 1948. Late that year, Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys recorded the song (Columbia 20459). The title on the label was Little Cabin Home on the Hill.

Elvis sang Little Cabin on the Hill, imitating Bill Monroe, during the Million-Dollar-Quartet session on December 4, 1956. Vocal support was provided by Carl Perkins. On June 4, 1970, Elvis formally recorded the song at RCA’s Nashville studios.

Lyrics:

Tonight I’m alone without you, my dear
It seems there's a longing for you still
Oh, but I just keep it there so I won't be alone
In our little cabin home on the hill

1. Oh, someone has taken you from me
And left me here all alone
To listen to the rain beat on our window pane
In our little cabin home on the hill

1. 1. (Repeat)

In our little cabin home on the hill
